Across the Landau Forte Charitable Trust, we love the incredible diversity of our communities, and we’re proud of our academies’ long-standing commitments to creating truly inclusive environments where everyone feels loved. That’s why, this June, we want to celebrate everything that makes our young people and our staff unique by launching Pride in Diversity Month! This is part of our wider aim to make sure every young person and member of staff across our academies feels supported and comfortable in their own identity.
We want to celebrate our wonderfully diverse communities, support our young people and staff to talk positively about what makes them unique, and to signpost the support networks that are available to them. We’ll be publishing a number of articles over the coming weeks, as well as encouraging conversations across social media with the hashtag #PrideInDiversity
Pride in Diversity Month will focus around four key themes:
Each theme will take place over the course of a week. We want to celebrate and raise awareness of these themes across our academies, whilst continuing to support our young people and members of staff who might be struggling. We are all diverse in some way and we want to encourage everyone across the Trust to embrace what it is that makes them stand out.
As part of this we’ve also launched a competition for our young people and members of staff to show off their originality in how they respond to the phrase: “Pride in Difference”. This is a real opportunity for them to flex their creative muscles, whether that’s with baking, writing, art, photography or something else. The competition is being run across all year groups and the deadline for entry is Wednesday, 16 June. Winners will be announced shortly after.
Our academies will also be holding their own celebration event, which will include a non-uniform day with a voluntary donation. All the money raised will be donated to several charities. We’ll publish more details of these events over the coming days.
Pride in Diversity Month will launch on Monday, 7 June with an article taking a look at disability.
We’re excited to hear the thoughts and experiences of our communities and we look forward to engaging with you online. Don’t forget the hashtag #PrideInDiversity
